Nontraditional is a feature film that I wrote and directed in 2013 along with my co-producing partner, Christina Xydias. It stars Kat Evans, Nnamdi Ubozoh, Haley Feickert, and Morgan Hastings. The film tells the story of Erika Byrd, a 26-year-old combat veteran, who is only just starting her first year of college.
After self-financing the production, we ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to gather finishing funds, primarily to pay for post-production serviced with Different by Design of Los Angeles.
Nontraditional had its premiere as part of Potsdam, New York’s Cinema 10 series on Veterans Day in 2013. It went on to screen at the Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival, The Catskills Mountain Film Festival, NewFilmmakers New York Spring 2014 series, as well as part of the Best of the G.I. Film Festival on the Pentagon Channel.
